On view at Insights Gallery , 516 Commercial Ave. in Anacortes, through August 27 is a show of gallery artists featuring Suzanne Anderson’s oils, Liana Bennett and David Grant Best’s photography on canvas. I just finished listening to Jen Graves interview Seattle photographer Alice wheeler and am sitting here with a smile on my face. What a character!! Do yourself a favor and click on The Stranger’s InVisible and listen to this highly entertaining discussion about her work and life. Wheeler’s show, “Women Are Beautiful,” is currently showing at the Greg Kucera Gallery.
I should be posting this week, but the hot temperatures leave me unable to think. Since my dogs are miserable too, we spent most of the day at Petco in Ballard where they have wonderful air conditioning and welcome dogs. Those of you with air conditioning don’t know how lucky you are!!!

“ArtLuck!” at the Kirkland Arts Center , 620 Market Street, starts at 6:30pm for a potluck and critiques of the current artist. This month’s artist potluck will feature Molly Norris’ artistic journey via image and sound.

2009 Seattle Pride Art Auction from 6-9pm at the Olivian in downtown Seattle at 809 Olive Way. The evening will feature elegant entertainment, memorable artwork and, free valet parking. A portion of all proceeds raised goes to benefit Seattle Out and Proud, producers of the annual Seattle Pride Parade.

April Richardson will demonstrate the monotype printmaking process at Fine Impressions Gallery, 8300 Fifth Avenue NE, from 6-7pm on Thursday, July 16. Richardson uses an intricate, multi-layered process, based on botanical and other natural forms. Also on view during the month is Chris Nowicki’s silkscreen prints made from the designs of master carvers at Alaska Indian Arts. Nowicki, represented by Fine Impressions since 1987, is now a professor of printmaking, specializing in mezzotint, at the prestigious Academy of Fine Art in Wroclaw, Poland. Shown is Richardson’s Midnight Blues and Yellow.
The Cole Gallery, 107 5th. Avenue S. in Edmonds, opens Joshua Flint’s “The Unseen Glance,” in a special champagne and dessert reception from 5-8pm on July 16. Featured in the July issue of American Art Collector magazine, Flint explores the Grand Central Station, focusing on the moment in time to capture a glimpse of life using light effects, edges and movement.
