One of the most celebrated works of the Italian Renaissance, "The Gates of Paradise: Lorenzo Ghiberti's Renaissance Masterpiece," is now on view until April 6 at the downtown Seattle Art Museum. Once the panels conclude their tour in the United States, They will be installed in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Florence, never to travel again. According to SAM's website, "Michelangelo is credited with dubbing them ,the gates of paradise,' and
sixteenth-century artist and writer Giorgio Vasari called them 'the

PONCHO just announced Patti Warashina as the 2008 PONCHO Artist of the Year. A
Washington native, ceramic sculptor Patti Warashina taught at the UW for 30
years. Patti has a long and respected resume in the arts. Her work is included
in the collections of The Smithsonian, the Museum of Art and Design New York,
The Mint Museum, The Los Angeles County Art Museum and Perth Cultural Center.
