Antique black and white images are on view this month at Fine Impressions Gallery, 8300 Fifth Avenue in Seattle. Continuing through October is the gallery’s participation in the 100 anniversary of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exhibition, with both historical images and contemporary Alaska Native art. Shown is “Yew,” an 1841 tinted lithograph from a drawing by Jamesuff Harding, in Antique Prints, Botanicals. This print was part of a botanical text, Trees of Park and Forest, published by the renowned lithographer Hullmandel.
Seattle artist Craig Kosak’s one-man show opens at Howard/Mandville Gallery in Kirkland in a reception from 6-8pm. Kosak is inspired by the wildlife and landscapes he encounters while traveling, and rather than faithfully documenting the flora and fauna, he strives to capture his feelings, insights and emotions from these personal sojourns. Local Color, 1606 Pike Place Market in Seattle, opens from 6-8pm with a group show featuring Joel Scholten, Kyong Oh, Kundry Haberkern and Sandy Haight. Free parking is available in the Market Garage at 1531 Western Avenue with validated tickets by the gallery.
