Fiber artwork from University of Washington Fiber Arts alumni on view July 15 through September 30

university “Connecting Threads,” an exhibition of fiber artwork by 55 alumni of the University of Washington Certificate in the Fiber Arts Program, opens July 15 from 6-8pm in the University of Washington Tower, 4th. floor mezzanine at 4333 Brooklyn Avenue NE in Seattle. An extensive variety of materials are used to create the works on exhibit including fiber in wax encaustic paint, hand dyed burlap, digital photography and felted sculpture. The  exhibition runs through September 30. Shown Tiny Chime by Kira Bacon.

Elizabeth Ford Ortiz at Brackenwood Gallery

untitled Master textile artist Elizabeth Ford Ortiz’s contemporary quilts will be on view at the Brackenwood Gallery, 302 First Street in Langley, from February 5 through February 28. Her work has been published in Quilting International, American Quilter, Art/Quilt Magazine, and Fine Art Quilts. She was also a featured artist on the KCTS program, “Quilts of the Northwest.” Her work is shown in galleries and museums throughout the world. A reception for the artist is February 5 from 5-7pm.

Teri Jo Summer’s wearable art at Open Door Gallery

Teri Jo Summer’s wearable art is on view at the Open Door Gallery, 5603 Bayview Road in Langley on Whidbey Island, through August 31. Summer’s 2010 shows include the Museum of Northwest Art in La Conner and Gallery San Juan in Friday Harbor.
