Seattle Art Museum downtown showing American Masterpieces, 1771-1917 through December 7

sammorningOn view through December 7 at the Seattle Art Museum  is “American Masterpieces, 1771-1917.”    The installation includes landmark works by renowned American artists from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries, some from SAM’s collection and many on loan. This special display marks the public announcement of a major new acquisition for the museum, Raphaelle Peale’s Still Life with Strawberries and Ostrich Egg Cup, 1814 painted in Philadelphia in the great age of Enlightenment. It is an exquisite painting, small in size but great in its beauty and rich in history.
