First Friday in September around Puget Sound
A first-ever exhibit featuring some 200 film, literary and visual artists who have graduated from Artist Trust’s EDGE Professional Development program since 2003 is showing at the Washington Convention Center, 800 Convention Place in downtown Seattle, from September 7 through October 18. Bainbridge Arts and Crafts, 151 Winslow Way, celebrates the fiftieth birthday of the Bainbridge Public Library with an exhibition, “Pages: Books in Art.” In the minds and hands of eighteen painters, photographers, and mixed media artists, the book doesn’t contain the subject – it becomes the subject. Childhood’s End Gallery, 222 4th. Avenue W. in Olympia, is featuring Dan Daniels’ egg tempera and copper on wood, Blake Flynn’s oil paintings, and Judith Smith’s pastels through September 30. A reception for the artists will be from 5-7pm. Shown at the right: by Dan Daniels.
The Gasworks Gallery, 3815 4th. Ave. NE in Seattle, invites all to a party to meet new artists in the building and to collect food for their MashedPotatoes.org campaign. The party starts at 8pm until ?. Contributions of wine, cheese, fruit and party foods are encouraged.
Multiple exposure film shots will be shown alongside paintings that revisit the past and explore the present for artist Lael Meidal at Honey Salon, 310 W. Holly in Bellingham, from September 7- October 3. Join the artist for her opening reception from 6-9PM.
Opening during the Bainbridge art walk from 6-8pm at the Island Gallery, 400 Winslow Way, is “Fall Delights.” The show, on view through September 30, consists of illuminated sculptures, lamps, wearable art and accessories. Featured at the opening is Bainbridge Island’s gypsy jazz band, Ranger & the Re-Arrangers.
Ornamental Arts Gallery, 13805 Smokey Point Blvd. in Marysville, is featuring “An Evening with Ebner” in a reception from 4-7pm. Ebner, a well-known Northwest painter, will be at the reception which will include entertainment by Michael Gotz playing jazz guitar. Shown at the right: Beach Walkers.
Roby King Galleries, 176 Winslow Way E. on Bainbridge Island, is showing “Fall Revue 2012” in a reception from 6-8pm. The group show features all the gallery artists.
Scott-Milo Gallery, 420 Commercial Avenue in Anacortes, is showing new oils by Whidbey Island artist Anne Belov in a series called “Close to Home.” Also showing are mixed medial collage by Barbara Dollahite, oils by Matt Dollahite, color photographs on papery by Dick Garvey and acrylics by Larry Heald.
