Audubon prints now showing at Fine Impressions
Currently showing through the month of September at Fine Impressions Gallery, 8300 Fifth Avenue NE in Seattle, is
a collection of Audubon prints. Based on the famous Folio Edition of Birds of North America, John J. Audubon (1785-1851) drew these prints from nature, which were then lithographed by J. T. Bowen in Philadelphia. Oddly enough, Audubon only became successful here after he became a hit in England where he drew huge audiences anxious to see drawings of the United States wilderness and to hear talks about his exploits. One of his biggest fans was King George IV. Each print is hand-colored, and the colors are striking. Shown: Raven.
