First Friday in July around Puget Sound
Allied Arts of Whatcom County, 1418 Cornwall in Bellingham, continues their juried artist series with “Fringes of Society” featuring the work of Iain Davidson, Larry Gilbert, Nate Marohn, and Scott Williams. The public is invited to the opening night celebration at the Allied Arts Gallery and the Downtown Art Walk: Friday, July 1st, from 6pm to 10pm. There will be an Exhibit Walk-Thru with the artists from 6:30pm to 7pm on opening night.
artEAST Art Center and Up Front Gallery, 95 Front Street in Issaquah,. presents "High Jinks! – Explore the Lighter Side of Life" juried art show, July 1 – 31. Bainbridge Arts and Crafts, 151 Winslow Way, opens from 4-6pm with “Claudia McKinstry:Homegrown, “Narrative Collage” by Donna Snow and “John McCuistion.” Shown:Claudia McKinstry, Meeting of the Board . The show runs through August 1.
Showing at Kat Schneider Studio | Gallery, 301 W. Holly Street, will be four Bellingham artists with a diverse range of style and voice. Ruthie V.’s experiments with surface, materials and mark making, David Ridgway’s reduction of form and expressiveness of color, Kat Schneider’s artifacts resulting from process and imagination and Sharon Kingston’s luminous layers of color are featured. Opening reception with the artists during the Bellingham downtown artwalk, July 1, 6 pm to 9 pm with the exhibit continuing through July.
Cole Gallery, 107 5th Avenue South in Edmonds, is showing new works in oil by Jeanne Edwards from July 1 – July 31. The artist will attend the opening reception on July 16 from 6:30-8:30pm. The gallery is also featuring a Rip Caswell sculpture naming contest with the winner receiving a $100 gift certificate. Shown at the right: Girl in the Yellow Dress.
Gallery North, 508 Main Street in Edmonds, celebrates the monoprint in July with “Flat Art From the Press,” a collection of monoprints by Bonnie AuBuchon and Mary Anderson. The show beings July 1, and the artists’ reception is July 10 from 1-4pm. The artists will also be present during the Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk on July 21 from 5-8pm.
Every first Friday of the month, in conjunction with Eastside Networkers ©, Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery, 800 Bellevue Way NE, celebrates an evening of a "Finissage" or exhibit ending reception with special values for the exiting artist, light beverages and a new sponsor (Earthfix this month). Aerosol artist and artaholic Aaron Brick will be displaying his addiction at Honey Salon, 310 W. Holly in Bellingham, from July 1st through August 2nd. Using hand designed stencils on a variety of surfaces, Aaron hopes his work will help the viewer escape from their everyday life. The opening and reception is from 6-9 PM.
Honeychurch Antiques, 411 Westlake Avenue N., invites the public to their new exhibition, “Toraja,” architectural panels from Torajaland, a mountainous region within South Sulawesi in the Indonesian Archipelago, on view from July 1 through August 1. A special viewing is scheduled during an house on July 2 from 12-5pm.
Roby King Galleries, 176 Winslow Way on Bainbridge Island, opens from 6-8pm with “Americana,” a group show featuring varied interpretations of America by 20 of the gallery’s artists.
The Island Gallery, 400 Winslow Way E. on Bainbridge Island, is showcasing ceramic and glass drinking vessels in their exhibit, “Toast Winslow,” from July 1 - 31. The Julie Duke band will play during the opening reception from 6-8pm, so the gallery says, “Bring your dancing shoes.”
